Someone has a bird brain (Xylander + Nocme)

The search has lead them to many different and difficult situation. All of them they got out through a weird combination of luck and skill. However this time Dace sulk in the tiny little cage by the guy who manage to catch him.

This is not entirely his fault. How was he supposed to know that there are creature hunter or something near this part of the woods. Although he could already imagine Nocme gloating and telling him to stop taking stupid high risk, she was always telling him to be more careful especially for a rare albino Xavier. Not that he is ever going to listen to that advice but he also hated the fact he couldn’t retrieve the clue. It was dropped and stomped on when he was caught.

He wasn’t quite sure which part he was more mad about but in the end it won’t matter. His red eyes already caught the defects of the cage and the fact the guy probably has no idea how awful a Xavier can be when provoked. Even if he dare touch him and tried to hold him, there will be blood. And some missing coins maybe, or even that pretty shiny necklace that he eyed around the boy’s neck.

There is no way he is going back to Nocme empty handed, and he know how to manipulate the odds to his side a bit.
He just need to bide his time.

Xylander hadn't been planning on going into the animal trading business. In all honesty, it went against his nature. However, when you live day to day on the streets, you have to do whatever you can to get a meal. 

The moment he saw the albino Xavar flying aimlessly through the town, he knew that he could sell it for a very high price. He quickly spent the rest of his money on a crude cage and pursued the rare bird through the woods. Luck must have been on his side, because he was able to follow it to a clearing and use his spark ability to blind the Xavar long enough to trap it in his cage.

He held it out in front of him, looking at the pristine feathers and the clear eyes staring angrily back at him. He hoped he didn't hurt the creature too badly.

Xylander headed toward the nearest pet shop he could find. Xylander wasn't going to sell the Xavar to a butcher. He wanted it to go to a nice home where he wouldn't feel too guilty about stealing a beautiful bird from the wild.

As he came inside, the bell on the door jingled, signaling his presence to the shopkeeper. He walked up to the desk and set the cage down. 

"Sorry, I have to do this," he said to the Xavar. "Hopefully you'll find a good home to take care of you, and I'll be able to find a brief home for myself."

Dace glared at the boy. A pet? Seriously who is this boy think he is? Does he know anything about a Xavar? As if they would ever lower themselves to a pet statue. A human should be proud enough that a Xavar is willing to work for them.

In fact even the store owner was more aware of Xavar’s nature and stare at the bird warily. “Boy you do know that there really isn’t anyone that tame a Xavar right? Might be easier for you to sell it to a rare animal collector or something,” he said as he lifted the cage up to eye level to have a good examination of the bird. Making sure there are no illnesses or other injuries on him. After a few moment he was satisfied there was nothing wrong with the bird and set it down again.

However as he set the cage down something cracked. It is a small cheap cage and it’s not unlikely for the door to suddenly fall off its hinges. Dace know the reason and he took the chance to immediately flies out. First to the boy, talons to the neck, so dangerously close to the arteries. He made a crowing noise that is very akin to...

“F@#$ you”

A quick swipe, the necklace is cut from his neck. It didn’t take much effort really, not even as he push off quickly and flew out of the open window. He immediately flew to the shadow of the building for protection, just a quick rest to get a better grip on the shiny new necklace. Now its time to get back to Nocme, she already started worrying and has been wandering through the woods and town looking for her friend.

Looks like luck vanished just as quickly as it came. The shopkeeper's evaluation of the bird was not the news he was hoping for. The nearest rare animal collector was in the next town over, and he had no funds whatsoever to take a train. Walking would take days, and he needed food. 

"Well, it was worth a shot," he mumbled hopelessly. "I'll just release it at this point..."


It seemed that the Xavar had the same idea. The moment the lock on the cage broke - which, had been sold unfairly to Xylander for being a piece of trash - the bird flew out with a screech, swiping its talons at Xylander's neck. 

The boy stumbled back, shouting as he narrowly missed having his throat torn by the bird of prey. He fell back onto his butt, watching as the Xavar took off through the door, its claws clutching a thin thread of gold.


"That damn bird stole my necklace!" he shouted angrily as he jumped back to his feet and took of running after it. There was no way that overgrown chicken was going to make off with his necklace. It was priceless.

Dace could hear his cursing instantly and took off to the sky again. This time taking more care in keeping himself hidden, he can’t let himself be caught again after getting out with manipulating fortune. Those sort of magic tire him out quickly.

Quickly he tries to aim for the dense tree foliage, hoping the dancing shadow and bright sunlight could confuse him enough. From their he weaves and duck around the branches, sometime backtracking a few trees to try and lose him. He wasn’t sure how relentless he was but just needing to make sure.

Luckily it didn’t take him long to spot the heavily covered figure. Nocme covered head to toe with some form of clothing in an effort to hide her identity. Even her elf ear and body figure were all covered up. Still that doesn’t mean she didn’t spot her friend from miles away. Coming to her at breakneck speed.

“Dace! Where have you been?” she hissed through the scarf, trying to hide all her worry. Even though there was no point as the Xavar already knew, and instantly go to her shoulder and nuzzle her face. Reassuring her of everything, not to mention telling her what happen to the clue, the guy and also his shiny new item.

Just as he predicted, Nocme immediately fume up at the mention of his capture.

“HE DID WHAT?!” thankfully her scarf covered most of the volume. Otherwise someone’s eardrum would have busted. Dace flew up and into the shadow to hide while Nocme tuck the jewel in her pocket. There is someone she really need to stab and Dace is happy to point him out if the guy manage to chase him this far.
