Every character on Polemos is born with the ability to tap into a natural element and generate strength from it through the form of skills. Listed here is every element currently available in the Polemos world. Some may be rarer to stumble across than others, while some will exclusively be accessible through event awards (rare elements.)

COMMON ELEMENTS:
Earth
Water
Air
Fire

UNCOMMON ELEMENTS:
Lightning
Ice
Light
Shadow
Wood
Metal
Poison

RARE ELEMENTS:
Soul

Sound

*Rare Elements are used exclusively for event rewards and are not otherwise attainable.
*Characters may freely possess common or uncommon skills without charge, though you're far more likely in the world of polemos to find characters with common skills

*Healing is a tacked on ability that must be bought from the item shop for every element. The only exception is Soul (which has minor life absorption capabilities)

Lightning - Incredibly quick and hot, those with a Lightning affinity will often rely on skills that induce blinding, stunning or paralysis. Lightning is seen as quick and powerful, but not easy to direct or tolerate for many. Those with mastery over this skill may find themselves able to buff their agility or even partake in minor teleportation.

Ice - Ice mages are considered the long term rival of lightning mages, and also a great combination partner. Possibly the most beautiful element, ice users utilize the slippery and reflective aspects of their powers to set deadly traps and ambush their enemies. Graceful, agile and adaptive are all good descriptions of ice and its wielders.

Light - Perhaps the most overlooked of the elements, light frequently provides a gentler magic touch than others. It's unwise to underestimate, though, as light can be as deadly as it is invigorating, with more applications than most others might think. Create lasers, re-color the environment, disorient foes, or become invisible for short periods. Stunning is certainly a perk, but not the only one of being a light mage!

Shadow - Shadow falls weak to any element that can cause illumination, but is otherwise a destructive power that's nearly impossible to stop without targeting the medium directly. Shadow users are cunning and stealthy, able to maneuver through the dark with ease. Some can quite literally become one with the shadows, using them as a means to phase into the surface and travel about. Likewise, the shadows can be manipulated into projectiles or tendrils of darkness, obeying their user and striking out.

Wood - While Earth (ground) encompasses the rock variety of Polemos' natural make up, wood controls the rest. Plants and trees can be manipulated with the Wood Element, giving boosted ability to grow things, send out vicious attack of vines or branches, and create protective barriers with hedges and trees. If it's a plant, a wood elementalist can use it!

Metal - The Metal element was thought to have branched off from the Earth element, with a band of renegade miners first harnessing this power as a means of surviving what would have otherwise been a fatal steel elevator incident far beneath the surface. Metal elementalists may not be the quickest or stealthiest of fighters, but their element tends to be heavy and forceful, never to be underestimated. Manipulation is among its most common use, allowing the element to be crafted into shields, weapons, and art, among other things.

Poison Poison evolved from the wood element, focusing on the sickening and purifying chemicals they produced. Now, this element stands on its own as a force to be reckoned with. Neither flashy nor quick, but certainly a capable magic, poison provides a steady shutdown of the opposition. It has a large range and is not limited to striking any single enemy. Skilled poison users are able to minimize the detection of their attacks and strike with surprise, inflicting a variety of effects, from burns to paralysis and hallucination. Likewise, these elementalists can find easy work in the medical field as healers and witch doctors, able to extract toxins from the wounded. Just be careful meeting the shady alley doctor.

Soul - Soul is an element pertaining to one's spirit. Wielding and mastering of the soul element allows its user to converse with the dead, reanimate carcasses long gone in the general area, and even turn the deaths of your enemies into small chunks of life force, to heal an ally or yourself. This element also has buffs and debuffs such as slowing and weakening defense.

Arcane - The Arcane element draws together and propels your energy in a physical attack that can be projected at foes. It works much like fire, though may not stick and spread on a surface, and lacks any sort of weaknesses to another element (like fire can be weakened by water.) This energy can be wielded in a physical manner by its user, can block attacks and create pathways under-toe for the intelligent arcanist!

Sound - Contrary to popular belief, bards can kick some serious ass! Sound can be used to locate enemies, deafen, stun, misdirect and give a real headache. Vibrating sound waves can stunt attacks and hypnotize, among other things. Plus, sound mages tend to be really great musicians.
